3.Um passeio bastante popular a partir da Cracóvia é a visita às minas de sal de Wieliczka, 15 km a sudeste da cidade. Muitas empresas organizam saídas para este popular destino, incluído na lista da Unesco de Patrimônios da Humanidade. A produção industrial estendeu-se do século 13 até anos recentes, quando ela passou a ter vocação 100% voltada ao turismo. Em seu interior encontram-se dezenas de esculturas, baixos relevos e até uma igreja completa, que levou 30 anos para ser completada. Muito dos trabalhos originais foram feitos pelos próprios mineiros, mas recentemente escultores profissionais passaram a produzir obras aqui.
Os tours duram cerca de 2 horas e são obrigatórios, disponíveis em inglês, alemão, italiano, russo, espanhol e francês. Os mais frequentes são os primeiros, com saídas a cada 30 minutos na alta temporada, de junho a setembro. Na hora da fome, as minas possuem um restaurante.
